Endoscopy

Endoscopy allows us to see inside the body - we are researching how this can be improved.

We are working on aspects of flexible endoscopy in the intestine (colonoscopy) as well as in the area of rigid laparoscopy in the abdomen. To enable automated tracking of the intestinal contour during colonoscopic procedures, image-based methods for intestinal contour detection and trajectory generation are being explored. Furthermore, we are working on improving the visual range of the operating person during laparoscopic procedures. Therefore, we are researching partially flexible laparoscopes that allow a simple adjustment of the viewing angle onto the situs, as well as approaches in the field of virtual reality to extend the field of view.
